Happy Mail!

I ordered a copy of Dedri Uys’ book of her 2015 CAL, Sophie’s Universe, from Wool Warehouse on the 18th of this month. I was so surprised and excited when it arrived this morning – only 8 days, from England! It’s my first order from this company, and based on this experience there will most certainly be another!

My purchase was something of an indulgence, as all parts of the pattern are available for free online, but I turned 43 at the weekend, so I consider it a birthday gift to self ๐Ÿ™‚ It will be great not to be scrolling around and squinting at a screen of an evening – and the book is absolutely beautiful, I am thrilled!

While browsing the site, I came across a Stylecraft shade card, which seemed a sensible purchase, being as I’m 22,000km from the source! It’s great to have all the colours to hand for future orders. I’m really enjoying using some of my Stylecraft Special DK stash for Sophie, and will definitely be buying more.

Nothing further to report today – I’m hooked on hooking Sophie at the moment! I do plan to start another baby blanket in the next few days though, using a square from the wonderful 200 Crochet Blocks by Jan Eaton, one of my favourite crochet books, so I’ll share a bit about that later in the week. Until then, I wish you happy hooking ๐Ÿ˜€

  1. Happy birthday Pam! I’m sure that’s a perfect book to own. Sophie’s Universe is such a gorgeous design. And I have in mind to buy my own shade card one of these days too as sometimes you just can’t tell from a computer screen which colours you want.

    • Yup screens are awful for knowing true colours! On the back of the card it explains that the colours in the Special 4ply and Special Aran & Chunky match the Special DK colours and lists the available shades in those ranges too – bonus! It’s much bigger than I expected, really pleased I got it. Thanks for birthday wishes! ๐Ÿ˜Š

    • Thanks for coming over from Instagram Anne ๐Ÿ™‚ Am on Mid North Coast NSaw, wrapped in a blanket under heater this early morning but I doubt it ever gets as cold as Tassie! I have an Aussie passport but I’m a relatively recent Scottish immigrant – everyone says I should be used to the cold but there’s no central heating here lol plus I guess I’m a bit spoiled now after almost 8 years in the subtropics! Hope your recovery is speedy and you can start your Sophie soon too โ˜บโ˜บ

  3. Thanks for the info on where to get the book. I like having books to take with me when we travel so I don’t have to look for an internet connection. I’m hooked on mandalas.

Happy Birthday, hope your day was everything you wanted and more.

  4. Happy Belated Birthday!!! What a perfect gift to give yourself! How handy is that yarn color sample chart!! One of the reasons I hesitate buying yarn online is because I worry that the color won’t be what it looks like in the picture. That is some great customer service – and fast shipping too!! ๐Ÿ™‚
